Honored and humiliated people on the Day of Judgment (2)

Translated by: Alamgeer Usmani.

Praise be to Allah, who is unique in majesty and eternal existence, greatness and pride, we praise Him for His great blessings, the greatest of which is the blessing of Islam, and I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone who has no partner, He has a kingdom which is just and wise, and He sent messengers and taught them, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the servant of Allah and His Messenger, who delivered the message and fulfilled the entrusted duty. He advised the nation, and struggled for the sake of Allah that is owed to him, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, and upon his family, companions and followers until the Day of Judgment, and may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him abundantly.

After that, I advise myself and you to fear Allah and to look into our deeds. Whatever was good, we increased it, and we asked Allah to accept it, and whatever was bad, we repent from it, and we asked Allah for His forgiveness. Because, I and you are now in the home of action for the hereafter. Allah the Almighty said the truth:

“Whoever opts for the immediate (benefits from) life herein, We give him, right here in this life, as much as We will, to whomever We intend. Then We assign Jahannam for him where he shall enter condemned, discarded. And whoever opts for the Hereafter and makes efforts for it as due, while he is a believer, then, the effort of such people is appreciated! To all of them - both these and those - We extend the grants of your Lord. And the grant of your Lord is not barred (for anyone). See how We made some of them excel some others (in this world) and, of course, the Hereafter is much higher in ranks and much greater in degrees of merit”.

Brothers in faith:
In this world, the condition of people in their steadfastness in applying the law of their Lord, is different. Like this, their condition in the Hereafter also would be different as Almighty said:
﴿ أَمْ نَجْعَلُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ كَالْمُفْسِدِينَ فِي الْأَرْضِ أَمْ نَجْعَلُ الْمُتَّقِينَ كَالْفُجَّار ﴾ [ص: 28].
“Shall We make those who believe and do righteous deeds equal to those who commit mischief on the earth? Or shall We make the God-fearing equal to the sinners?”

Honorable people,
we will motivate our hearts by mentioning something from the state of the two groups on the day of judgment:
What will save the servant on the Day of Judgment is to strive for the needs of Muslims, to help the needy, and to facilitate for insolvent; The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: He who alleviates the suffering of a brother out of the sufferings of the world, Allah would alleviate his suffering from the sufferings of the Day of Resurrection, and he who finds relief for one who is hard-pressed, Allah would make things easy for him in the Hereafter, and he who conceals (the faults) of a Muslim, Allah would conceal his faults in the world and in the Hereafter. And Allah is engaged in helping the worshipper as long as the worshipper is engaged in helping his brother." narrated by Muslim.

Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "There was a merchant who used to lend the people, and whenever his debtor was in straitened circumstances, he would say to his employees, 'Forgive him so that Allah may forgive us.' So, Allah forgave him."

Brothers in faith,
Among those who will be honored on the Day of Judgment are the people who are just in their judgment, their families and in what they have been entrusted with, so, on the Day of Resurrection they will be in a lofty position, sitting on pulpits of light to the right of the Most Merciful, and both of his hands are right hands. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: Behold! the Dispensers of justice will be seated on the pulpits of light beside Allah, on the right side of the Merciful, Exalted and Glorious. And both of His hands are right hands. (The Dispensers of justice are) those who do justice in their rules, in matters relating to their families and in all that they undertake to do”.

Among those who will be honored on the Day of Resurrection are the martyrs; The martyr will not panic when the people will be frightened; It is recorded in Sunan al-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah on the authority of al-Miqdam ibn Ma’di Karb, he said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "There are six things with Allah for the martyr. He is forgiven with the first flow of blood (he suffers), he is shown his place in Paradise, he is protected from punishment in the grave, secured from the greatest terror, the crown of dignity is placed upon his head - and its gems are better than the world and what is in it - he is married to seventy-two wives along Al-Huril-'Ayn of Paradise, and he may intercede for seventy of his close relatives." Authenticated by Albani.

And from Allah’s honor for the martyr on the Day of Resurrection is that Allah will resurrect him while his wound will pour out the blood. Seemingly, its color would be the color of blood, but its smell would be the scent of musk.

Muslim narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: One who is wounded in the way of Allah-and Allah knows better who is wounded in His way-will appear on the Day of Judgment with his wound bleeding. The color (of its discharge) will be the color of blood, (but) its smell will be the smell of musk”.

Ibn Hajar said: “The scholars said: The wisdom behind his resurrection is that he will have a witness of his virtue that he has given himself in obedience to Allah Almighty”

May Allah benefit me and you with His Book and the Sunnah, and the wisdom and verse that they contain, and ask Allah’s forgiveness for He is Forgiving.

Second Sermon
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate, Owner of the Day of Judgment. And may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon the owner of the Lake-Fount and praised position, and his family and companions.

So, I enjoin myself and you to do good deeds, to leave taboos, and to renew repentance. Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “O people, repent to Allah, for I repent to Him a hundred times a day”. narrated by Muslim.

Brothers in faith,
people in this world have different actions, and so are they in the Hereafter. The Almighty said:
“Do those who have committed evils assume that We will make them like those who believe and do righteous deeds, so as their life and death becomes equal? Evil is what they judge”.

In the first sermon, we heard something about the condition of the honored people on the Day of judgment, and now we would hear something about the condition of the humiliated people on the Day of Judgment and on the day of meeting with the Lord of the Worlds.

Among those who will be humiliated on that day, are those about whom the threatening has accrued that Allah would not speak to them or purify them, and they will have a painful punishment. Among them are the people who conceal the book of Allah which He has sent down. They are the rabbis monks, and the scholars who conceal their knowledge to please a ruler, or to demand a worldly benefit; As the Jewish rabbis and Christian monks concealed what they knew of the attributes of our Messenger, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, and their denial of his prophethood, even though they knew about prophet, as Allah told about them:
﴿ يَعْرِفُونَهُ كَمَا يَعْرِفُونَ أَبْنَاءَهُمْ ﴾ [البقرة: 146]
“They recognize him as they recognize their own sons”.

The Almighty said:
“Verily, those who conceal the Book Allah has revealed, and earn thereby a small price, they eat nothing into their bellies but fire, and Allah will not speak to them on the Day of Judgment, nor will He purify them, and for them there is painful punishment”.

This threat includes other sinners, because there is a hadith narrated by Al-Bukhari: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "There are three types of people whom Allah will neither talk to, nor look at, on the Day of Resurrection. (They are): -1. A man who takes an oath falsely that he has been offered for his goods so much more than what he is given, -2. a man who takes a false oath after the `Asr prayer in order to grab a Muslim's property, and -3. a man who withholds his superfluous water. Allah will say to him, "Today I will withhold My Grace from you as you withheld the superfluity of what you had not created."

Honorable people,
disobedience to Allah is disgraceful in any case, but it becomes even more ugly if it is done with weak reasons. Therefore, the threat came in addition to the old adulterer, the poor arrogant, and the king who lies. In the hadith that Muslim brought out: “Three (are the persons) with whom Allah would neither speak, nor would He absolve them on the Day of Resurrection. Abu Mu'awiya added: He would not look at them and there is grievous torment for them: the aged adulterer, the liar king and the proud destitute”.

The previous warning came to the owners of other major sins; Muslim narrated in his Sahih on the authority of Abu Dharr, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: Three are the (persons) with whom Allah would neither speak on the Day of Resurrection, nor would look at them nor would absolve the and there is a painful chastisement for them. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) repeated it three times. Abu Dharr remarked: They failed and they lost; who are these persons, Messenger of Allah? Upon this he (the Holy) Prophet) observed: They are: the dragger of lower garment, the recounter of obligation the seller of goods by false oath”.

The scholars restricted the threatening of “dragger of lower garment” here to those people who dress out of arrogance. As it came in another hadith: “And whoever drags his garment out of arrogance, Allah Almighty will not look at him on the Day of Resurrection”. Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim.

Al-Nawawi said: “He will not speak to them” means: Almighty would not speak to them with contentment and pleasure, but rather He would speak to them with the words of anger, and “He will not look at them” means: He will turn away from them; Because, His looking at his servants is mercy and kindness, and “will not purify them” means: He will not purify them from the defilement of their sins, and it is said that it means: He will not give compliment to them.

Oh Allah, make us and our loved ones on the day of judgment among the honored and winners.
